That's what Clint Eastwood used in the last Dirty Harry movie. I remember him standing on the sidewalk and waving, gun at his side, this is his shadow and all you can see is a 44 Auto Mag hanging from his giant ankle. Can't wait to hear the public presentation.

Sometimes they come back: the .44 Auto Mag pistol is being remade. The original gun manufacturer, Auto Mag Corporation, closed in 1982. In 2015, a new company, Auto Mag LTD. Corp., was founded to bring this story back to market. The new company sold all assets and rights to Auto Mag and - to cut a long story short - after a long period of testing, several prototypes and many improvements over the original design, the guns New continents are being shipped today. They are 77 pistols with an 8.5-inch barrel in honor of Dirty Harry's Auto Mag in the movie.

Why Dirty Harry Ditched His 44 Magnum In Sudden Impact

The new Auto Mags are manufactured through a contract with Excel Industries. Previously, Excel Arms only made magazines and frames, but now they offer to complete the entire gun.

The "new" Auto Mag pistol is a short cartridge used in powerful calibers such as .44 AMP, .357 AMP and .45 Win Mag.

Designed by Harry Sanford, the Auto Mag pistol was intended - and is - as a unique pistol: a short-barreled revolver with fixed lugs (similar to the action of a rifle AR-15). It fired a specially developed cartridge, the .44 Auto Mag (AMP) pistol, and was designed to use the power of the .44 Magnum revolver as a semi-automatic pistol. But things are not going well for Auto Mag Corporation: as explained on the website of the "new" Auto Mag company,

"Based on market analysis supporting new Auto Mag sales, approximately 150 pistols per month. As part of this market analysis, we are not planning a major sale yet. We believe that word of mouth, social media, internet traffic and Auto Mag fans drive sales. In general, we'd rather sell directly to consumers."

Initially, the new Auto Mag will only be offered in .44 AMP format, but the company says it will also be offered in .357 AMP and .45 Win Mag versions. As for ammunition, they have worked with Starline Brass to produce 100,000 cartridges for the .44 AMP cartridge and are in talks with several other weapons manufacturers to begin production of the .44 AMP line.

The new Auto Mag is available in 6.5 in and 8.5 in. On the company's website, the .44 AMP Auto Mag 6.5-inch barrel is priced at $3495, while the 8.5-inch barrel is priced at $3795. They also offer a full chronograph for $1599. Auto Mag made a special appearance this year during the SHOT Show 2022 Industry Data at the Range through the Palmetto State Armory. PSA graciously granted Auto Mag a spot on their runway so the company could demonstrate the latest innovations to the .44 Auto Mag pistol. We also learned that a new version of the Auto Mag pistol has been released called the Raven Edition which has a black finish with a wood grain that I think goes perfectly with the tough chrome finish. better understanding of the original Auto mag design. So even though the gun looks the same, it's now much more reliable and secure with hundreds or thousands of people able to fire 44 Auto Mag during the day.

The pistol sounds good but doesn't break the arm, and that's partly due to the auto-adjusting mechanism Auto Mag uses. The Auto Mag pistol is now available to order, but due to supply chain issues, Mr. Henry in a recent email said the company has a 5 to 6 month backlog for the 6.5″ and 8.5″ models. However, at the time of this writing, there are several Raven Edition boxes that will be shipping within the next 3 months. In addition, Starline Brass will produce new brass for the 44 Auto Mag cartridge.
