Assault Bike Wods - No matter how much you love running, you can't deny that there are times when you get bored and need a change of pace. This is also a good time to change up your training style to improve your overall fitness and performance. That's why I created these 30 high-intensity assault bike workouts for runners. As the name suggests, they are very challenging and will increase your fitness. If you work hard, this can translate to faster running times and faster recovery between workouts. Read on for more.

Some runners may wonder why they should even consider doing these workouts on an assault bike. After all, cycling won't improve their running performance? This is where you are wrong. This study showed that runners who did high-intensity interval training on a bike for 4 weeks saw a significant increase in performance.

Not only did cycling help runners improve their cardiovascular fitness, but researchers found that a 4-week HIIT running program did not help cyclists. This shows that cross-training can actually be beneficial for runners. However, I think there is an even more compelling reason why runners want to cross the train on an air assault bike.

Running is by far one of the most popular forms of exercise, but it's certainly not without injury. This meta-analysis shows that at least 20% of runners suffer from one of several joint injuries. Things like stress fractures, tendon problems, and joint pain are pretty common in the running community.

One of the best ways to prevent these types of injuries is to replace a stressful workout with a low-impact workout. Remember, I'm not saying you shouldn't run. I am saying that you can easily replace some of your running with work on the assault bike to avoid injury.

If you've never ridden an assault bike or fanbike, you're in for a real treat. In my opinion, as a longtime fitness trainer, I believe it is one of the best conditioning tools available. It has a low impact and engages the whole body. It also causes a little pain.

Most importantly, it uses a large percentage of your body's muscle mass, which will have the greatest impact on your body's aerobic and anaerobic energy systems. To put it a little clearer, it's very easy to do an intense workout on an assault bike. It is much more effective than a traditional stationary bike or something like an elliptical machine.

Crossfit Wod Of The Day 2

Just because I think assault bike exercises are a great way to get your heart rate up while working your upper and lower body doesn't mean that's all you should be doing. If you are a runner, your main job is to run. If you want to improve your performance while recovering some tendons and muscles, you need to include an assault bike in your training program.

For most runners, I recommend starting the 30 Savage Assault Bike Workouts for Runners program, adding two assault bike sessions per week. You should do this by replacing one running day with an assault bike workout and adding another assault bike training session.

More advanced runners might want to try 3 sessions a week on the assault bike, but I wouldn't go any higher. Running is still the main goal, so we should spend most of our energy on it. Assault bike training should complement your overall goals, not replace them.

This program is written in order from left to right, top to bottom. It reads like a calendar. What's more, it's designed to complement your running program, meaning you can add it to your training schedule.

Assault Bike Workouts To Galvanise Your Engine (with Minimum/no Equipment Options)

These great workouts are very hard, so I wouldn't recommend a hard running workout right before or after a day of riding an assault bike. Try to place demanding running workouts away from demanding work on the assault bike. Hard cycling intervals would be better paired with an easy run/long runs for example.

You'll start with 10 minutes for maximum calories, then move on to the Tabata interval on your next workout. You'll also end up with 10 minutes for max calories. This is our test practice so we can establish a baseline and then see how much you've improved from start to finish. If you do two assault bike exercises per week, this program should last you 15 weeks!

Most of these workouts are high-intensity interval training or a punching session. This means you'll be working at peak performance with short breaks and even shorter rest periods. These challenging sessions are a great way to increase fitness and are used extensively in this program.

I want to emphasize that you can use the assault bike as a recovery tool by pedaling with ease. There's no reason why you can't replace a longer running session with work on an assault bike, I just haven't included that method in my program here.

Of course, this is just exercise. I strongly encourage you to lightly warm up for 3-5 minutes at a moderate pace. Then I encourage you to do some intense intervals (10-30 seconds) to specifically warm up your anaerobic energy systems. Once this warm-up is complete, you can rest for 60-120 seconds before starting a specific workout.

You will notice that there are many different programs. Most are high-intensity interval training, but some have a lactate threshold and work aerobic energy systems. While all of your energy systems are used in every workout, each has a specific purpose and ideal power output.

If you're using a training watch like my favorite Garmin Epix 2, I highly recommend using the heart rate feature to help you out on days where I've given up about 80% of my effort. When using the watch, you only need to work at 80% of your heart rate, which makes it a bit more accurate than guessing how hard you are working on an unknown piece of equipment.

All fan bikes or air bikes are low impact cardio machines, but each one has its own unique feel. I've used all the most popular exercise bikes, including the Assault AirBike Classic, Assault AirBike Elite, Rogue Echo Bike, and various Schwinn variants. Let's talk about their pros and cons.

This is the cheapest and best option. In fact, I sold my C2 rowing machine a few years ago to buy an assault bike. Like all bikes of this type, the Assault AirBike Classic uses air resistance to generate resistance that must be overcome by the pedals.

The Assault Air Classic Bike lets you gain momentum. If you stop pedaling, it will continue to move while rotating slowly. I prefer it because it seems like a normal, solid mechanical process that slows things down. As you can see, other bikes don't feel it at all.

I also find that sitting on it is the most comfortable of all the other bikes I have tried. It is height adjustable and can move forward and backward. So you can find your perfect riding position, no matter how tall or short you are. I highly recommend this bike.

This is a more expensive, updated version of the original Assault AirBike Classic. It is more durable and has a different monitor. This version of the bike is best suited to commercial fitness facilities as it is more prone to abuse.

They also changed the handlebar position on the Assault AirBike Elite, which I feel is more natural for the upper body. This would be my favorite bike, but they opted for a wide hard saddle which I don't find particularly comfortable. I'm sure you could list it if you really wanted to.

If you're a CrossFit athlete or have watched CrossFit games, then you've seen the Rogue Echo Bike. Widely regarded as the toughest bike for fans, but it's my least favorite pick. Both variants of the Assault AirBike have some residual momentum and will continue to move after a while when you stop pedaling. Not so with the Rogue Echo Bike

It has a large fan and a larger surface. This means that when you stop pedaling, it instantly slows down. I don't know why it bothers me, but I really don't like this feeling. Maybe it's because it's not a regular bike that you can float on when you stop pedaling.

I also find the chair very uncomfortable. It seems to me that Rogue has made a very durable machine that can withstand a lot of abuse over the years, but they have spent less time optimizing it for comfort. If you're competing in a CrossFit competition, you should probably use this because that's where you'll see it. If you are a runner looking to improve your fitness
